Visionary Leadership is where it starts

The most important NET Standard is Visionary Leadership. I believe the Administrator must have a plan and vision for what technology usage and incorporation will look like at all levels before trying to implement anything. Starting from the leader and working its way down, the development of a shared vision for "comprehensive integration of technology" will lead the way to the other ISTE components. First the Vision then the development of the culture; professional excellence; improvement and citizenship...

Digital Natives invade our Classrooms...

I think any teacher and administrator would agree that students are more technologically savvy than ever before. Most of our students are true digital natives. In order to prepare our staff for this mental switch, we will first need to educate them. Teachers would need to know what technology is available and how to operate it. The more comfortable they become with working with technology, the more apt they will be to incorporate it into their lessons.

The next step is tricky.... As administrators we have to put the technology into our teachers and students hands. Teachers must have access to technology in order to integrate it into lessons. Students will also need access to develop skills. Not all students can be considered a digital native. Some students do not have access to computers, iPods, web cams, etc.

It is our job as Admin and teachers to develop our students into 21st Century learners and make sure they own the skills and literacy to ensure their success in this new day and age.

A Fresh Start... I think?

This is my Blog's birthday! The day that www.bloglines.com/blog/Ms-Sid
hit the World Wide Web!

This idea started as a MSA class assignment. But I'll gladly move along with its future development! I've wanted to explore how Blogging can be beneficial in educational leadership development. Most of our students are using them to "rant" about us... How unfair and out of touch we are...blah blah blah. But this is an outlet for Educators on all levels. Feel free to speak your mind (because I will).

I will caution you: Once you type it, it’s out there for the WORLD to see. Spellign(lol) errors, using student’s names, etc NONE OF THAT BUSINESS ON HERE! Let's keep it real Professional and yet "real"...

Looking forward to it,

Ms. Sid
